Biography

Born in 1981 (Breda, the Netherlands),
Jasper appears to have a some musical ears at a very early age, reacting on almost any sound. From the moment his dad gave him his first washing-powder-box-drumkit, his life would be all about music, and he starts taking drumlessons at the age of seven. Ten years later, he is admitted to the Rotterdam Conservatory, where he graduates in 2002 as a bachelor in music. While studying, he builds up his network on jamsessions, and already plays frequently with bands in various styles.
Then his career as a working drummer started with "The Young Sinatras", playing on jazzfestivals throughout the Netherlands. Meanwhile, other projects started to develop, giving Jasper the chance to gain a lot of experience, record many albums, and grow as a flexible musician with an open mind and a musical sense of sound, harmony and unity. Nowadays, his current bands include 'Eric Vloeimans' Gatecrash' (electric-impro, dutch trumpetplayer) and Wouter Hamel (dutch singer/songwriter) with whom Jasper is playing throughout the Netherlands, Europe, Asia and the rest of the world.
Besides that, he has shared the stage with Bert van den Brink, Harmen Fraanje, Michiel Borstlap, Jeroen van Vliet, Ewout Pierreux, Hein van de Geyn, Stefan Lievestro, Gulli Gudmundsson, Peter Tiehuis, Theo de Jong, Nic Thys, Wim Bronnenberg, Anton Goudsmit, Ad Colen, Ilja Reijngoud, Fay Claassen, Jesse van Ruller, Angelo Verploegen, Dick de Graaf, Milan Bonger, Mete Erker, Tutu Puoane, Gino Vannelli, Wende Snijders, Denise Jannah, Edsilia Rombley, Deborah Carter, Lydia van Dam, Steve Swallow, Carla Bley, amongst many others...
Thanks for reading, and enjoy the music! Jasper.
